Its topography varies from 2400-2800 meters above sea level which gives an average difference of about 400 meters. The inner part of Dessie is situated beneath Tossa mountain which rises up to 3000 metres and dissected by the chain of mountains . The climatic feature of Dessie is essentially Dega climate with an average minimum temperature of 12-7⁰c and maximum temperature of 26-27⁰c, and with an annual rainfall of over 1100 mm which makes it preferable and suitable to undertake any development endeavours.
